3. If you don't want to keep your old green recyclables tub (?), leave them on the curb next Friday, Nov. 4th. They'll be picked up for -- recycling!
Announcement: Enhanced Recycling Program
Beginning Monday, Oct. 31, Colleyville will begin using 65-gallon wheeled carts for its single-stream curbside residential recycling program. With almost four times the capacity of the 18-gallon bins, the new carts offer more room for additional recycling and the added convenience of rolling the cart to the street or curbside. The carts also have the added advantage of an attached lid keeping materials from blowing away or getting wet in inclement weather.
IESI, the city's trash and recycle collection provider, will begin delivering the carts to Colleyville households on Oct. 22 and continue through Nov. 4. Once the carts are delivered, the current 18-gallon bins will no longer be collected. Residents can keep their bins for personal use or, from Oct. 31 through Nov. 4, the bins can be placed at the curb on a normally scheduled recycle day for IESI to dispose of.
Changes in Trash and Recycling Schedule
An automated collection truck will be used to collect recycle items from the new carts. After Nov. 4, only the IESI 65-gallon carts can be used for collection of recyclables. The truck will service the entire city, necessitating a change in the current pick-up days for both trash and recycling for some customers. Trash service will continue to be twice per week and recycle service will continue to be picked up once a week-but the collection days for many residents will change. Please visit the City of Colleyville Website for further details and the map.

Announcement:
Please add the following quote from Mona Gandy, spokesperson for the City of Colleyville, as a CAUTION: bulletin at the top of the Ross Downs website:
“The city's ordinance governing water violations in these circumstances allows for a fine up to $2,000. However, the city at this point is not writing citations for first-time violations; those receive a written warning. Citations may be issued for a second violation and for any subsequent violations. The amount of the fine is determined by the municipal court judge, but typically fines for multiple violations will increase in amount.
It is worth emphasizing to your neighborhood that due to persistent drought conditions, mandatory outdoor watering restrictions will remain in place until further notice. Restrictions on outdoor watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and compliance with the zoned schedule will continue to be enforced. For anyone reporting a violation, the most effective reporting method is to call the city's non-emergency number-817.743.4522 (dispatcher will answer as "NETCOM"). This allows the appropriate personnel to be dispatched to a location while a violation may be occurring, so that any violation can be acted upon on a more immediate basis. This can be done without providing the name of the person reporting, so that the report remains anonymous.”
A few yards within the neighborhood have been observed with sprinklers going at mid-day and on the wrong days for this area of town. As a reminder, the City of Colleyville has issued a Stage 1 alert, which limits watering in the Ross downs neighborhood to Wednesdays and Saturdays, and prohibits watering between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Those who violate the letter and spirit of this ordnance risk fines from a judge who is equally concerned about water conservation during this drought period.

Alert: (June 6, 2011)
BOBCAT spotted: Please be aware that there was a bobcat in a neighbor's backyard this morning eating a squirrel. The Colleyville Animal Control was notified. Animal Control said they may come and set a live trap and to notify the police if the bobcat is seen again.
The Bobcat was spotted at the McMakin Court on the edge of the neighborhood and the bobcat went under the neighbor's fence toward Hodges Automotive and Hart Pool. The bobcat has been spotted along Hwy 26 before but never in the neighborhood.
Announcements: (WARNING!!)
A scam has recently surfaced in our area that may affect any homeowner attempting to sell their home via Internet postings or “For Sale by Owner” assistance sites. The scam apparently originates in Nigeria, and has been reported to local and Federal enforcement agencies. A Ross Downs residents that are contacted by anyone posing as a “missionary in Africa wanting to lease his furnished house in Colleyville”, and offering a key to the house in exchange for a deposit payment, is urged to contact the Colleyville Police Department, the Federal Trade Commission, the FBI, and the Ft. Worth Better Business Bureau.
Removing this bogus listing from all of the various websites that may pick it up and re-post it is at best tedious, at worst time and cost consuming. Because it is removed from one site doesn’t eliminate it from others. Remember, it pays to trust only those you know to be creditable, whether in-person or online.
